Orientation for international students addresses important immigration and compliance topics as well as an overview of UMBC resources, offices, and available support services. There is information about the programming below, additional details and access information is sent to admitted students via email.
International Student Orientation consists of the 2 activities outline below.
All international students are expected to complete both!
Online Orientation Modules
The first part of International Student Orientation is offered asynchronously in Blackboard and consists of an 8 module training covering important immigration information and UMBC resources.
All new international students will receive instructions for accessing this training via email.
Complete this training before your first day of classes!
In Person Welcome Event
The second part of orientation happens at our in-person welcome event.
At this event we will share important information about cultural adjustment, cover important safety and immigration reminders and provide a space to connect with UMBC offices and your fellow incoming students.
Lunch will be provided -we look forward to seeing you there!
Remember: You are also required to attend all other orientation sessions that have been assigned to you.
