Every student at UMBC is responsible for securing their own housing, but UMBC has resources available to help you find just the right fit!
On Campus Housing
Dorms on UMBC’s campus are available to undergraduate students only. Residential Life (RL) is responsible for operating and maintaining the residential facilities as well as coordinating programs and services for approximately 4,000 students who live on campus. Make sure you apply before the deadline! This housing does fill up every semester!
Also available on campus are the Walker Avenue apartments This complex is open to graduate students and has an independent application system.
Off Campus Housing
There are many apartments and townhouses available for rent around UMBC. Rental practices, bills, and community living in the US may differ from your home country. Retriever Support Services can help guide you through these topics. Here are a few tips to get you started on your search:
- Keep location in mind. If you intend to use UMBC Transit to commute to campus, you need to make sure your housing is near one of the stops.
- Students attending UMBC-Shady Grove will need to look for housing near the Shady Grove campus and NOT in Catonsville.
- If you are living with a roommate, make clear plans about responsibilities and division of expenses so you can budget and avoid conflict.
