Once you have been nominated to UMBC by your home institution, you will receive instructions from your exchange coordinator on how to apply for admission.
You will need to provide your exchange coordinator the following information no later than April 30 (for fall admission) or October 31 (for spring admissions):
- scan of the biographical (picture) page of your passport;
- proof of finances of a minimum of $11,500 USD per semester you will study at UMBC;
- If you provide a bank statement that is in the name of a family member or anyone other than you, please also submit a signed Financial Support Letter;
- unofficial transcript from your current institution.
Some students may be asked to provide a recent TOEFL or IELTS English proficiency test score. Please confirm with your home university’s exchange coordinator if students from your institution are required to submit English proficiency results. (See here, under “Recommended Score/Grade Levels for Admission” for minimum requirements.)
During your exchange period, you will attend UMBC as a non-degree seeking student. You will be permitted to enroll on any course for which you are academically qualified. The Education Abroad Office will assist you with enrollment in courses for which you need permission from the instructor.
